Took this photo on Sunday in the East Village. I guess this is a good time to point out two things.
1. This photo is from the Nikomat. And when I say Nikomat, I mean, THIS. Made in the 1960’s, I’ve been loving this camera for a lot of 2010. What it lacks in modern convenience (a lightmeter) it makes up for in feel and quality. When this camera is on, it’s on.
2. David calls me an anti-cropite. I am one. None of my photos posted in this forum are ever cropped or rotated. I will definitely mess with some levels, contrast, colors, but the composition is the composition from start to finish, and I’ve been surprisingly able to hold out thus far. I’m sure the day will come when I just have to do it, but for now, my frame in camera is my frame in publishing.
I almost decided to rotate this one a little, but came to realize I had, in fact, done exactly what I wanted with it, and stayed true to the frame.
Cheers to seeing and believing. It’s a beautiful day.
